I spent this past summer as an undergraduate member of the “Vocal Aging Explained by Vocal Tract Modeling” team at the CLSP research workshop in Johns Hopkins. This talk will take a journey through the various approaches we took in our attempt to explain vocal aging, from the web-based human perception test to articulatory inversion and the modeling of the vocal tract. I will go over the results from the experiments we ran on the effects of age adaptation to ASR, as well as areas of current and future work. With time permitting, I also hope to give a brief synopsis of the research done by other teams, and, finally, recount my overall impression of this summer workshop experience.
